On February 2, Wuhan Vulcan Mountain Hospital was completed.

Every second counts! This is a tug of war with time.

On January 24, on New Year's Eve, hundreds of excavators arrived at the site and began to level the ground.

On January 25, the first day of the new year, Vulcan Mountain Hospital officially started construction.

On January 26, the second day of the Chinese New Year, the construction of the impervious layer was fully launched, the trenches of the underground pipe network were excavated, and the material of the container board room entered the site one after another.

On January 27, the third day of the new year, the site was leveled, the gravel and yellow sand backfilling were all completed, and the first batch of box container board houses were hoisted.

On January 28, on the fourth day of the new year, the steel structure of a double-deck ward began to take shape.

On January 29th, the installation of more than 300 box-type board room skeletons was completed on the New Year's Day.

On January 30, the sixth day of the new year, the laying of HDPE membrane was fully completed, and the equipment of the sewage treatment room was hoisted simultaneously.

On January 31, the assembly of 90% of the containers was completed on the seventh day of the new year, and the skeleton of the mobile board room was installed to 3,000 square meters.

On February 1, the eighth day of the new year, the installation of medical cleanroom equipment was fully launched.

On February 2, the 9th day of the new year, the Vulcan Mountain Hospital project was completed.

During the peak period, more than 4,000 builders were on-site, with nearly a thousand large-scale machinery and vehicles and 24 hours of uninterrupted construction, once again showing China's speed and power. The equally concerned Thunder Mountain Hospital will also be completed on February 5. Race against the plague! So how did you build a hospital in about 10 days? Can the two hospitals meet the demand? Will the hospital cause pollution to nearby lakes?

Focus 1: Can The Two Hospitals Meet The Demand?

"The newly-built Vulcan Mountain Hospital and Lei Shenshan Hospital can handle about 2,300 beds." Mayor Zhou Xianwang of Wuhan City introduced at a press conference on January 26. It will also renovate 6 hospitals in the far-city area, increase the number of beds by about 10,000, and promptly treat confirmed cases. In response to the new situation of the epidemic, Wuhan City decided on January 29 to expand the number of beds in the Lei Shen Shan Hospital under construction from the original design of 1,300 to about 1,600.

Focus 2: HowTo Build A Hospital In 10 Days?

At 11 pm on January 31, when many people started to dream, Li Jian, the project leader of the China Construction Third Bureau, wearing a mask, still stood on the glorious construction site of Vulcan Mountain Hospital, directing the workers to work in full swing. According to the plan, Vulcan Mountain Hospital will be completed on February 2nd, which means that there is only 10 days construction period from the entrance construction to completion on January 23rd. In contrast, the Thunder Mountain Hospital is even faster. In just 5 days since the official construction started on January 26, the overall construction progress has been completed by more than 60%.

"Behind the speed is the innovation of China's construction technology." Wu Hongtao, secretary of the party committee of the China Construction Third Bureau and a company who is directing the scene at Lei Shenshan Hospital, said that the construction of the two hospitals uses the industry's most advanced assembly building technology to maximize The use of assembled industrialized products greatly reduces the workload of field operations and saves a lot of time. At the same time, after the external splicing, the whole hoisting is performed, and the on-site construction and the whole hoisting are interspersed to achieve the maximum efficiency.

Focus 3: How To Mobilize A Large Number Of Construction Workers In The Short Term?

The project has more than 2,000 workers and nearly a thousand large-scale various types of large-scale mechanical equipment and transport vehicles, which work 24 hours a day. At the time of the Spring Festival holiday, many migrant workers have returned to the Chinese New Year. How can they mobilize so many workers in a short period of time? Ye Jian, Manager of the Technical Department of the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau General Contracting Company responsible for the construction of Vulcan Mountain, introduced that on the night of January 23, China Construction Third Engineering Bureau quickly mobilized more than 1,400 workers in the five construction projects in Wuhan that are working overtime. Work such as leveling the ground can begin quickly.

At the same time, the China Construction Third Bureau also circulated "hero posts" and quickly convened workers through subcontracting companies. Fu Jianping, the general manager of Hubei Hanyu Labor Service Co., Ltd. said that after receiving the notice on the evening of January 23, he took a bus straight to Enshi early in the morning on the 24th and took it to Yichang, Jingmen, Jingzhou, Xiantao, etc. Workers; at the same time, they mobilized rural workers around Wuhan to come together.

At the beginning of the Spring Festival, some workers were reluctant to return. When I heard it was coming to build a hospital for pneumonia patients infected with the new coronavirus, many agreed. "They also hope to build the hospital as soon as possible and eliminate the epidemic as soon as possible." Fu Jianping said that on the evening of the 24th, they led more than 300 workers into the construction.

Focus 4: How To Prevent Cross Infection In The Hospital?

In the model room of the isolation ward in Lei Shen Shan Hospital, there is a pass box composed of two layers of glass and ultraviolet system in the ward. Patients' meals and medicines will be passed in from this pass box and disinfected by the ultraviolet system in the pass box. To avoid infection. There are two beds in each ward, and there is a separate toilet in the room.

"It is necessary to strictly prevent pollution of the surrounding environment and strictly control cross-infection in the hospital," said Yang Jianhua, chief designer of the Lei Shenshan Hospital project and deputy secretary of the Central South Architectural Design Institute Party Committee. As a principle, a strict "three zones and two passages" design is adopted, and the medical staff arranges the work area according to the work process of "clean area-semi-polluted area-polluted area". Every time you enter the first-level area, the medical channel is completely separated from the patient channel, providing a safe and reliable working environment for medical workers.

Focus 5: Will It Cause Pollution To Nearby Lakes?

"It will not pollute nearby lakes," said Li Yongfeng, technical director of the installation company of the China Construction Third Bureau. The hospital's wastewater must go through seven strict procedures from discharge to qualified treatment. Firstly, it must be completely enclosed and pre-sterilized in the hospital. Treatment, and then ascended to the sewage treatment station for biochemical treatment. After passing the system test, it will be discharged into the municipal pipe network. According to Li Yongfeng's calculation, each hospital can produce a maximum of 800 to 1,000 tons of sewage per day, and the sewage treatment capacity of each hospital can reach a maximum of 80 tons per hour. "That is, each hospital can handle up to 2000 tons of sewage per day. The processing capacity is very sufficient. "

It is not "missing" for rain. Zhang Songmin, waterproof designer of Central South Architectural Design Institute, introduced that in order to prevent rainwater from seeping into the ground, the ground in the isolation zone was all hardened. Three layers of protection, such as concrete base, anti-seepage membrane and reinforced concrete ground, ensure rain-free water seepage. Rainwater is collected into the storage tank in the hospital, and then discharged into the urban sewage system after disinfection.

Focus 6: Will It Affect The Health Of Residents Around The Hospital?

"The locations of these two hospitals are located in the downwind direction of Wuhan." Yang Jianhua said that the Houguan Lake and Huangjia Lake areas where the two hospitals are located are downwind. High-altitude emissions are not achieved until national standards are met. Yang Jianhua said that most of the hospital's medical technology rooms are negative pressure rooms, and the fresh air volume is increased in the ward and ICU according to relevant specifications. In this case, the pressure in the room is lower than the outside, which can effectively prevent the virus from passing to the outside with the airflow and polluting the outdoor air.

Focus 7: How To Use After Delivery? Is It Temporary Construction Or Long-term Use?

After the completion of Vulcan Mountain Hospital, it will be handed over to the relevant units of the People's Liberation Army for management as a specialized hospital for the centralized treatment of patients with pneumonia infected by the new coronavirus.

Vulcan Mountain Hospital uses a container house, while Raytheon Mountain Hospital is a temporary steel frame building. Regarding whether the two hospitals will continue to be used after the epidemic, the relevant person in charge of Wuhan Urban and Rural Construction Bureau said that this must be determined after the epidemic.

According to Wu Hongtao, functionally speaking, the two hospitals can meet the needs of long-term use after completion. At the same time, due to the standardized and modular design, all buildings can be quickly dismantled and the components can be used after being disinfected.
