Z-Grid Ceiling Systems
A clean room ceiling grid is a modular suspension system, typically made from extruded aluminum or steel, designed to support HEPA filters, light fixtures, and ceiling tiles in controlled environments. Its primary purpose is to maintain air quality by restricting air movement between the plenum and the cleanroom workspace, often featuring factory-applied gaskets for a positive seal. These grids are suitable for ISO Class 3 to 8 cleanrooms and are used in applications like pharmaceuticals, electronics, food processing, and data centers to ensure low particle contamination.
Cleanroom ceiling grids are often constructed from extruded aluminum for corrosion resistance and non-magnetic properties, or steel for added durability. Key features include integral gaskets (such as closed-cell PVC foam) to prevent air leakage, suspension via threaded rods, turnbuckles, or wires for precise adjustment, and compatibility with HEPA filters and vinyl-faced tiles. Some systems, like walkable grids, allow easy access to overhead systems, and they meet standards like Federal Standard 209E and ISO classifications for classes ranging from 10 to 100,000.
